EVEN before the much-anticipated Fiat 500 is officially launched in Australia, Fiat has released this first photo of the hot Abarth version that will debut at the Geneva motor show, starting on March 6.

The Fiat 500 Abarth, which will be launched in Australia in early 2009, is powered by a turbocharged 1.4-litre petrol engine developing 99kW at 5500rpm and 180Nm at 2500rpm (or 206Nm at 3000rpm in ‘Sport’ mode).

The standard 500 will be formally launched locally at the Melbourne International Motor Show on Friday week (February 29), with prices starting from $22,990 for the 51kW 1.2-litre Pop model.
