Cadillac Vistiq likely for Australia?

Three-row Vistiq SUV greenlit for production but Cadillac yet to confirm RHD for Aus

19 Nov 2024

CADILLAC has outlined details of its forthcoming Vistiq electric SUV, the seven-seat model greenlit for production but only left-hand drive has been so far confirmed ahead of the model’s 2025 launch as a rival to the Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV.

Local importer GMSV told GoAuto that it does now have any announcements to make on the Vistiq at the point in time, though it seems more likely than most, given the American luxury brand is an all-electric proposition in the land Down Under.

The Cadillac Vistiq, which made its motor show debut last year, has emerged as a dual-motor, six- or seven-seat offering with all-wheel drive propulsion, and a combined system output of 460kW/880Nm.

Cadillac says the numbers are sufficient to accelerate the Vistiq from 0-100km/h in 3.7 seconds.

Electrons are stored in a 102kWh battery that enables a claimed driving range of 483km.

“From the start, it was our team’s goal to deliver a three-row SUV that provides exhilarating performance and intuitive technology, wrapped in the brand’s iconic design language,” said Cadillac North America chief engineer Jeff MacDonald.

“Bold, yet refined, the Vistiq provides a comfortable ride while handling like a much smaller vehicle, delivering a sense of isolated precision.”

Stylistically, the Vistiq draws reference from the Escalade IQ and has a swept-back windscreen, Black Crystal Shield grille, and a spacious interior Cadillac says is inspired by modern architectural contours and framework.

“(The) Vistiq continues the Cadillac EV identity, including our signature vertical lamps front and rear, the illuminated pinstripe grille, a 33.0-inch diagonal high-resolution LED screen, and available 23-inch wheels, rendered in a proportionally stately and functional three-row SUV,” said Cadillac global design executive director Bryan Nesbitt.

“(The) Vistiq helps fulfill our showroom vision to offer the most artful integration of innovation with zero-emission propulsion.”

In addition to the highlights mentioned, the Vistiq is further characterised by brightwork and wheel choices paired with the exterior design and patterned third-window graphics and D-pillar design that pays tribute to Cadillac’s sporty heritage.

Cadillac says the cabin of the Vistiq is designed with comfort in mind, the third row offering conveniences usually reserved for first- and second-row passengers, including padded armrests, smartphone storage, cupholders, and USB chargers.

Further in-cabin highlights include carbon-fibre, open pore wood, or Black Ash Cluster garnishing, a recycled woven yarn upholstery option, five climate control zones, and “jewel-like” speaker grilles with a geometric pattern “found only on Vistiq”.

Elsewhere, technology highlights include a 23-speaker AKG Studio Audio system with Dolby Atmos and active noise cancelling technology, vehicle-to-home (V2H) bidirectional charging, blind spot steering assist, cyclist alert, forward collision alert, active rear-wheel steering, Super Cruise handsfree driving assistant, and optional night vision.

“Cadillac continues to set the standard for American luxury,” said Cadillac global vice president John Roth.

“The introduction of the Vistiq will continue to propel us into the EV future.

“With the addition of Vistiq, Cadillac will be one of the only brands to offer an entry in every luxury SUV segment.”

The 2025 Cadillac Vistiq will launch in left-hand drive markets mid next year in three trim grades: Luxury, Sport and Premium Luxury. Pricing in the US begins at $77,395 ($A118,650) plus on-road costs.
