Future models - Jaguar - XKJag prices XK two-doorsJaguar prices its new XK coupe and convertible, which made its Oz debut in Melbourne17 Feb 2006 JAGUAR has revealed pricing for the all-new XK coupe and convertible models it will release Down Under in June. Thirty one per cent more rigid than its predecessor and 90kg lighter at 1635kg, the alloy-chassis XK convertible made its Australian debut last week at the Melbourne motor show - direct from its Detroit show debut last month - where it received a $221,900 pricetag. Meantime, the all-new XK coupe – also available only with a six-speed auto – will be priced at $199,900. The XK Roadster’s lavish powered triple-lined fabric lid opens and closes in less than 18 seconds and stows under an aluminium tonneau, while its 4.2-litre V8 delivers a 0-100km/h sprint time of 6.2 seconds and a top speed of 250km/h. Jaguar Australia says that strong US demand has made just 40 examples available to it in 2006 (split 50/50 between coupe and convertible) – half the number it would have imported. Expect a 298kW 4.2-litre V8-powered XKR version here by early 2007, following a possible Birmingham show debut. Meantime, company chief David Blackhall said production examples of the 435Nm 2.7-litre V6 turbo-diesel S-Type sedan that will go on sale in April are on the water, and will be priced at $101,490. Carrying 2006 updates such as new 18-inch alloy wheels, Bluetooth compatibility and 10-way power seat adjustment, the diesel S-Type won’t be joined by an oil-burning X-Type as it’s not available with the automatic transmission Australians favour.
