Future models - Proton - SavvyFirst look: Proton Savvy coming soonThe first new baby Proton in aeons is arriving shortly29 Jun 2005 By CHRIS HARRIS PROTON has unveiled a new 55kW 1.2-litre four-cylinder hatchback called the Savvy, which is expected on sale here late this year. Proton Cars Australia managing director, John Startari, said the five-door hatch would be a low-volume proposition, capable of achieving about 20 sales a month. Two models will be available, with the entry car coming with dual airbags, CD player, cloth interior, electric windows, alarm and central locking. A high-end model will add alloys and anti-lock brakes. Mr Startari said a price-point was still being negotiated for the new car. It should start from around $13,000. A five-speed manual will be standard with a pseudo-automated manual also available. The Savvy would sit below the volume-seller, the new-generation Satria, which is expected to arrive late this year, he said.
