31 Jan 2007

SOUTH Korean brand SsangYong will reveal full details of its Actyon coupe sports (that is, wagon) and sports utility (ute) at the Brisbane show this week, along with an upgraded Rexton SUV.

GoAuto can confirm that both the Actyon wagon – to be launched in the second week of March – and the dual-cab ute – on sale during the first week of April – will both be available in either 2WD and 4WD configuration, with a 104kW/310Nm 2.0-litre common-rail turbo-diesel engine and with a choice of manual and automatic transmission.

A 110kW/214Nm 2.3-litre petrol engine will also be offered on the wagon. Pricing is still to be announced, however GoAuto understands that the entry 2WD petrol wagon model variant (known as the Standard) will start from around $27,000. The range-topping 4WD "Limited" wagon will hits the streets priced from an estimated $37,990.

With the ute, pricing should start from around $30,000 for the 4x2 Standard, topping out at $40,000 for the 4x4 Limited.

Both the wagon and ute have a compact design, roomy cabin and what the company claims is "European design, technology and handling dynamics". They have a striking shark-like grille and eagle-eye headlights.

In size, the Actyon wagon is smaller than its Kyron sibling, while the dual-cab has a larger load capacity and wider track than the Musso it replaces.
