New models - Citroen - C2Citroen drops C2, C3 and C4 pricingCitroen Australia trims up to $2000 from the price of its C2, C3 and C4 small cars26 May 2006 CITROEN has sliced up to $2000 off the entry-level prices of its small car range as a result of a better deal from the French factory following strong Australian sales. The recently updated C3 light hatch is now available for $2000 less, with the base SX 1.4-litre five-door manual now priced at $17,990, while the sportier three-door C2 VTR 1.6 Sensodrive can now be had for $21,990 - a saving of $1000. The C3 1.6 Exclusive remains unchanged at $21,990 (manual) and $23,990 (auto), as does the C3 1.6 Pluriel Sensodrive at $31,990. Meantime, for "a limited time", Citroen Australia has also trimmed $2000 from the price of its (manual-only) three-door C4 "Coupe" 1.6 VTR, which is now priced at $23,990 and brings C4 pricing under $25,000 for the first time. C4 2.0 Coupe VTS pricing remains unchanged at $36,990, as do pricetags for the entire five-door C4 range, including the C4 1.6 ($25,990 manual, $27,990 auto), C4 1.6 HDi turbo-diesel ($29,990 manual), C4 VTR 2.0 manual ($29,990) and C4 2.0 auto ($33,990). C5 pricing also remains unaffected. "Our French colleagues use a simple equation, the more cars we sell, the better our pricing," said the general manager for Citroen in Australia, Miles Williams. "This doesn't just include the cars we sell in Australia. Also factored into the equation are the cars we deliver in Europe under the innovative Citroen DriveEurope program, which puts Australian and New Zealand visitors to Europe into a brand-new Citroen for the fraction of the cost of a rental car. "We have expanded this program into New Zealand this year and this, combined with Australia's rising demand, has meant that by the end of April we had booked as many cars into the DriveEurope program so far this year as we had done in the whole of 2005. "Combine this with the 26 per cent rise in Australian sales so far this year and we have generated some serious cost savings that we are now passing onto Citroen buyers. "We have carefully chosen three models to reap the maximum benefit of these pricing changes. The new price for the entry-level C3 opens Citroen up to a whole new market," he said.
