New models - Genesis - G80 - ElectrifiedGenesis G80 EV priced for AustraliaFlagship G80 EV arrives next month with 272kW AWD powertrain, priced from $145k26 Aug 2022 GENESIS has revealed Australian pricing and specifications for its flagship Electrified G80 sedan, due here next month as the car-maker brings a trio of EV options Down Under.
Pricing has been confirmed at $145,000 plus on-road costs, available in only the ‘Luxury Grade’ trim level, for the Australian market.
The Electrified G80 tops the range, above the $101,191 plus ORCs G80 3.5T AWD Luxury Pack.
Both the electric and internal combustion top-spec models feature Genesis’ luxury trim option, but one won’t be heading anywhere near a fuel bowser.
The electric G80 features a twin motor all-wheel-drive layout, providing a combined 272kW/700Nm, resulting in a 0-100km/h time of 4.9 seconds.
Juice comes courtesy of an 87.2kWh battery with a fast-charging DC option allowing owners to go from 10 to 80 per cent charge in 22 minutes, and up to 520km of WLP-rated driving range.
A healthy driving range is achieved through the use of a Disconnector Actuator System (DAS), which separates one of the two motors from the drive shaft depending on driving behaviour.
The system allows the Electrified G80 to switch between rear- and all-wheel-drive configurations, depending on speed and driving mode, resulting in increased efficiency.
A 400V/800V multi rapid-charging system offers a range of charging options, and the driving motor and inverter can boost voltage from 400V up to 800V for improved charging performance.
Adding to the Electrified G80’s touring prowess, is a nifty Vehicle-To-Load feature that allows owners to plug electrical appliances into a household-grade socket – perfect for that Nespresso machine.
“The introduction of the sophisticated Electrified G80, along with Electrified GV70 and our GV60, sees Genesis transition into the future with electrification as a core brand pillar,” said Genesis Motors Australia head, Connal Yan.
“Electrified G80 builds on the renowned luxury and appeal of G80 with its refined, zero-emission battery-electric performance, long-range and ultra-rapid charging to create a fitting range flagship”.
While very similar to the existing G80 range, the Electrified model features certain EV-specific styling elements.
The crest grille is adapted into an “aerodynamic crest”, with an inverted G-Matrix pattern Genesis says emphasises its sustainability focus.
A solar roof is also a giveaway on the Electrified model, adding to the vehicle’s energy efficiency by harnessing the sun’s rays. Just how much the solar roof impacts charge hasn’t been disclosed.
All Electrified G80 models score a host of complementary services offered by Genesis, including a five-year / unlimited-kilometre warranty, eight-year warranty on the high voltage battery, five years of complimentary servicing and Genesis To You and valet service, 10-year 24/7 roadside assistance and complimentary map updates, and a choice of five-year Chargefox subscription or home AC charger and installation.
The September launch date also brings the dedicated electric GV60 and electric GV70 models.
