New models - Genesis - GV70 - ElectrifiedElectrified GV70 priced from $127,800Genesis luxury mid-sized eSUV priced ahead of local launch, in dealerships this month2 Sep 2022 By MATT BROGAN GENESIS has announced pricing of its Electrified GV70 ahead of the model’s arrival in local dealerships this month.
Priced from $127,800 plus on-road costs, the luxury mid-sized SUV will sit atop the GV70 3.5T Sport AWD in the GV70 line-up and features a dual-motor AWD driveline boasting 360kW/700Nm of torque and a 0-100km/h time of 4.2 seconds.
The Electrified GV70 features a 77.4kWh battery that offers a driving range of 445km (WLTP) and can be charged from 10 to 80 per cent in approximately 18 minutes when connected to a 350kW DC fast charger.
Offered in a single, highly specified grade the Electrified GV70 offers both interior and exterior Vehicle to Load (V2L) functions up to 3.6kW, and features an innovative Disconnector Actuator System (DAS) that can automatically connect or disconnect the motor and drive shaft in consideration of various conditions, switching between 2WD and AWD for optimum efficiency.
Further, the model’s Regenerative Braking System 2.0 regenerates energy through the braking system based on real-time navigation data and traffic conditions while an i-PEDAL (Intelligent Pedal) driving mode lets the driver accelerate, decelerate and stop using only the accelerator pedal.
The Electrified GV70 is also equipped with Active Noise Control-Road (ANC-R) technology which Genesis says significantly reduces the noise level experienced by occupants, by measuring and analysing road noises – using sensors and microphones – and then simultaneously creates sounds at opposite phase to cancel them.
In keeping passengers comfortable, the model is also equipped as standard with Preview Electronic Control Suspension (Preview ECS) that uses the front camera to gather data that informs instantaneous suspension damping adjustments to account for bumps and potholes ahead.
Genesis says the Electrified GV70 builds on the audacious, progressive and distinctly Korean style of the conventional GV70 while simultaneously offering electrified-exclusive elements that provide a unique look, improved aerodynamics and EV-specific cooling functions.
The front mask incorporates an EV specific version of the Genesis G-Matrix signature Crest Grille featuring a hidden EV charging point. The theme is echoed in the styling of the rear bumper with a simplified, tailpipe-free skid plate designed to “highlight the model’s emissions-free credentials”. Genesis’ signature Two-Line Quad Lamp tail-light design continues from the derivative range.
A total of 13 paint colours are offered on the model, including nine gloss finishes and four optional matte hues ($2000).
Inside, Genesis say the eco-friendly Electrified GV70 draws its design inspiration from a Korean aesthetic philosophy that emphasises the ‘Beauty of White Space’ to create a driver-oriented, intuitive and minimalist cabin.
Obsidian Black or two-tone Pine Grove Green and Ocean Blue, or Glacier White and Ocean Blue upholstery is available, each featuring Nappa leather with quilting and Mountain Type 3D backlit trim.
Equipment levels match those of the top-spec petrol-powered GV70, while adding silver monobloc brake calipers, a shift-by-wire gear selector, backlit door cards, adjustable ambient lighting, blind-spot view monitor, forward attention warning, 18-way electric adjust seats, fingerprint authentication, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster with 3D function, head-up display, remote smart parking, and 20-inch alloy wheels.
The media and infotainment centre measures 14.5 inches and includes navigation with augmented reality and live traffic updates, an integrated controller with handwriting recognition, and a 14-speaker Lexicon 1050-watt Harman audio system.
Genesis electric vehicle owners benefit further from a five-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty, complimentary servicing and Genesis To You & Valet service, eight-year high-voltage battery warranty, 10-year 24/7 roadside assistance and complimentary map updates, and a choice of five-year Chargefox subscription or home AC charger installation.
“We are immensely excited to introduce three new all-electric models this year, as the first realisation of our vision of creating a sustainable mobility future with electrification front and centre,” said Genesis Motors Australia CEO Connal Yan.
“The arrival of the progressive Electrified GV70, along with the dedicated electric GV60 and Electrified G80, will represent an audacious stride into that future.”
