Extensive upgrades for Iveco Daily 4x4

New front suspension headlines changes to MY25 Iveco Daily 4x4

22 Nov 2024

ITALIAN transport vehicle manufacturer Iveco has launched a new Daily 4x4 range, the latest generation of its go anywhere model that is equipped with additional kit and comfort features for 2025 while retaining “impressive” off-road capabilities.

Pricing starts from $149,228 plus on-road costs.

Upgrades to the Daily 4x4 follow similar changes implemented on the Daily 4x2 model last year this time with enhanced emission performance which now meets Euro6 (Step E) levels that places more severe emission limits on engine cold starts.

Emission control for the range is now by EGR and SCR systems.

The revised Daily 4x4 continues with a highly regarded 3.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine running an efficiency optimised variable geometry turbocharger (VGT) for an output of 132kW at 3500rpm and 430Nm of torque at a low 1500rpm.

The engine is available with ether a six-speed manual transmission or optional eight-speed H-Matic fully automatic arrangement.

The latter is calibrated to provide a more relaxed overall driving experience in demanding off-road conditions and allows the operator to keep both hands on the wheel and better focus on safely negotiating obstacles without having to worry about changing gears.

Keeping a close eye on its demographic for the Daily 4x4, Iveco offers the model exclusively with a light truck licence (LR) compliant 7000kg GVM and 10,500kg GCM rating.

Three wheelbases are available – 3480mm, 3780mm and 4175mm – in either single- or dual-cab configuration and wheelbase dependent, payload capacity for the model ranges from 4000kg to 4032kg for the single cabs and 3635kg to 3667kg for the dual cab variants.

But final capacities will vary depending on the body selection.

Aiding off-road driving, the new model continues with centre, front and rear differential locks as standard that provide high levels of traction off-road and there’s a low range transfer box PTO option that can power a broad range of ancillary equipment from tipping bodies to pumps and drills.

An expansion module with CAN open interface provides further customisation options for bodies and accessories allowing ‘run lock’ functionality, lights control and more.

Buyers of the new Daily 4x4 will no doubt appreciate its new independent front suspension previously unavailable to retail buyers. The system is said to deliver improved ride dynamics, especially for on-road driving.

The rear suspension remains a parabolic three-leaf system that Iveco says, “ensures the vehicle continues to offer generous load carrying abilities and strong articulation over uneven ground”.

The 2025 Daily 4x4’s wading depth is 670mm, enabled by an engine fan deactivation system that prevents damage to the fan when submerged and in the engine bay is another handy off-road feature: a 12V/180A alternator with in-dash battery cut-off switch that minimises the likelihood of accidental battery drain.

The Daily’s tough C-section steel chassis is fitted with is a steel bumper that has integrated fog lights, the bumper also featuring two rated (3500kg each) recovery points.

Steel side steps allow easy access while protecting the vehicle’s sills off-road. A centrally mounted bash plate under the engine bay protects vital systems such as the vehicle’s steering components.

The “super single” rolls on 265/70 tyres and 19.5-inch steel rims, while practicalities extend to all models being fitted with a 90-litre fuel tank (plus 24-litre AdBlue tank) with an optional 110-litre fuel tank.

Behind the wheels is a braking system using ventilated disc brakes all round with ABS and electronic brakeforce distribution that is part of Iveco’s ESP9 program that provides a suite of nine active safety functions including electronic stability program, anti-slip regulator, roll over mitigation, adaptive load control, hill hold control and others.

The safety package also features four driver and passenger SRS airbags.

Inside the cab are revised colour treatments for the dash and seating with the heated and suspended driver’s seat now utilising memory foam combined with lumber adjust and an armrest.

A two-person bench seat also uses memory foam and has an extractable table for the passenger, or alternatively the same specification single seat as the driver can be optioned and is standard on dual cab variants.

Other upgrades for MY25 Daily 4x4 include a high definition TFT display with digital speedo (replacing the previous analog unit) and a revised flat bottom and multi-function steering wheel.

The new model runs a revised Hi-Connect multi-media system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, navigation and DAB+ radio, automatic climate control, heated electric adjustable mirrors, two cup holders and two bottle holders and an “abundance” of in-cabin storage compartments including under seat and overhead.

“Users who intend to use the truck in demanding off-road conditions will appreciate the model’s full suite of 4x4 features including front, centre and rear differential locks as standard, which dramatically helps traction in slippery, muddy and undulating conditions,” said Iveco Australia product manager Zach Tierney.

“The truck’s 7000kg GVM also makes the vehicle attractive for a range of applications such as light tanker work, drilling and exploration, forestry tasks and as a remote area service vehicle.

“Additionally, for the adventure set, the generous GVM allows for fitment of sizeable expedition bodies that are perfect for extended off-road touring.

“Compared to previous models, the latest Iveco Daily 4x4 strikes a greater balance between off-road and on-highway capabilities; we think this combination will be well received by the market.”
