New models - Jeep - Wrangler - XJeep releases extreme Wrangler XLimited-edition Jeep Wrangler X arrives with black highlights and increased price8 Apr 2015 By TUNG NGUYEN FIAT Chrysler Automobile (FCA) Australia has released another limited-edition Jeep, the Wrangler X, inspired by the extreme X Games sports event. Limited to 70 units for the Australian market, the newest Jeep starts at $47,000 before on-road costs for the two-door and tops out at $51,000 for the four-door version, representing a $4000 price premium on the up-spec Wrangler Overland on which it is based. The Wrangler X is easily distinguishable from its donor car by a prominent two-piece decal on the bonnet and another on the rear swing gate. Jeep has also added a Power Dome bonnet, with working air vents, and black accents on the inside headlight rings, front grille, badges and fuel filler cap, along with 18-inch gloss black alloy wheels. Inside, black leather seats are adorned with grey stitching and a Wrangler X embroidered logo, while door handles and air vent surrounds have a white ceramic finish. These changes are in addition to the Wrangler Overland's body-coloured wheel arches, three-piece hard top roof, reversing camera, automatic headlights and heated front seats. The new Wrangler retains the 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 petrol engine, good for 209kW of power and 347Nm of torque, is coupled with a five-speed automatic transmission. It returns fuel economy of 11.3 litres per 100 kilometres. So far this year, sales of the Wrangler have dropped 33 per cent over the same period last year, with 543 units sold in the first three months. In the full 12 months of 2014, Jeep moved 2900 Wranglers, five units more than 2013's 2895.
