New models - Kia - SorentoKia adds value to SorentoFamily-friendly kit added to Kia Sorento but no bump to price13 Oct 2014 KIA has sharpened the value of its Sorento large SUV with a kit-boosting Family Pack now standard across the range. All variants of the South Korean car-maker's popular high-rider get the pet and child-friendly extras, which add $3400 of value but current pricing is not affected. Kia has also confirmed driveaway pricing of $39,990 for the Si petrol automatic, while the cheapest diesel is the Si manual $41,490 before the range tops out with the oil-burning Platinum auto $52,790 driveaway. The Family Pack adds a range of accessories to protect the Sorento from day to day wear and tear with an alloy nudge bar to prevent low impact scrapes and scratches, while side-steps aid smaller occupants getting in and out. On the inside the Sorento cabin is protected with a cargo mat to preserve load bay trims and carpet, while a Weathersheild window deflector set prevents rain and wind entering open windows while cruising at speed. A tow-bar set completes the Family Pack for hauling trailers or a caravan. Kia's Sorento is in run-out with the all-new Sorento is set to roll into local showrooms in the first quarter of next year, and while pricing and specification will be held back until closer to launch, the line-up is expected to remain in-line with the current model. Ford Australia recently announced a drop in price for its final Territory SUV – one of the Sorento's direct competitors – with the base petrol TX front-wheel drive variant down by $3000 to $36,990, plus on-roads.
