Mahindra updates XUV700, hikes pricesMid-size Mahindra XUV700 SUV updated with more tech and fresh interior, higher pricing21 Mar 2025 MAHINDRA has launched its updated XUV700 midsize seven-seat SUV in Australia, offering improved technology and refreshed styling, but the Indian car-maker has hiked prices across the line-up, while just about retaining its title of cheapest seven-seat SUV.
The XUV700 again lands with two trim grades, the AX7 priced from $39,990 drive-away (up $3000), and the AX7L priced from $42,990 drive-away (up $3000), with relatively minor upgrades to show for it.
Mahindra’s 2.0-litre turbo-petrol mStallion engine powers the range, producing 149W/380Nm, mated to a six-speed automatic transmission – unchanged from the outgoing model.
While both models look virtually the same as before from the outside, inside they receive a 10.25-inch infotainment display and digital dash of the same size, a full suite of ADAS tech, smartphone mirroring, and an all-black interior.
The higher grade XUV700 AX7L also scores ventilated front seats with active cooling, larger 18-inch alloy wheels, electric door handles, 12-speaker 3D audio system, 360-degree surround view camera system, wireless smartphone connectivity, and a memory side-mirror feature that links to the custom seat position profiles.
While relatively tech- and feature-rich for the money, the XUV700 goes head-to-head with cheaper, yet similarly well-equipped seven-seat models like the Mitsubishi Outlander (from $39,540 + ORC), Nissan X-Trail (from $41,065 + ORC) and Chery Tiggo 8 (plus $41,990 drive-away).
Late last year Mahindra announced details of its incoming BE 6e and XEV 9e electric models, underpinned by the brand’s Ingo EV architecture, and while they’re only confirmed for India so far, right-hand drive markets like Australia look likely.
Based on Indian market pricing, the Mahindra BE 6e will start at 1.89 million Rupees ($A34,600) and the XEV 9e from 2.19 million Rupees ($A40,100), putting them on-par with the XUV700.
The electric models, however, offer more power with 170kW or 210kW depending on the grade, and a range of 682km for the BE 6e and 656km for the XEV 9e – impressive when benchmarked against local competitors like the Leapmotor C10 (420km), Kia EV5 (555km), Chery Omoda E5 (430km) and BYD Sealion (482km).
While the electric models look promising on paper, it’s the turbo-petrol XUV700 models here now, and to sweeten the deal Mahindra is offering two years (or 25,000km) of scheduled service for vehicles delivered by 30 April this year.
Mahindra offers a standard seven-year/150,000km warranty, including seven years of roadside assist, and four years of capped-price servicing for all XUV700 models.
