New models - Mitsubishi - Magna - rangeSports extras for Magna modelsMitsubishi's sports twins gain some extra go-fast gear16 May 2001 By JUSTIN LACY MITSUBISHI has upped the ante on its performance Magna models, fitting the VRX with 17-inch alloy wheels as standard equipment for the next month. The new rims have five pairs of spokes and are shod with 225/50 R17 Bridgestone Grid II tyres. Other changes to the VRX and its junior sibling, the Magna Sports, include black interior door handles, black inserts in the exterior door handles and black brake calipers front and rear. Mitsubishi has also fitted higher rate springs, revised shock absorbers and a new front anti-roll bar to the sports twins. Available for a limited time is a leather option pack, priced at $1750, that offers a combination of leather and black sports fabric seat trim in two colour choices - red or blue. The instrument panel and door trims are colour-coded to the seat leather, while the centre console has a silver metallic finish and the steering wheel becomes two-tone leather. As part of the pack the audio system is upgraded to the eight-speaker premium system found in the Verada models, incorporating an in-dash four-disc CD player, cassette player and electric antenna. You can pick up an electric glass sunroof now as well for a further $1750. The sunroof option comes with front map lights and courtesy lights in the C-pillar.
