New models - Mitsubishi - PajeroMore airbags for more-expensive PajeroMitsubishi upgrades safety and increases prices for MY2011 Pajero wagon range22 Nov 2010 MITSUBISHI Australia has added side and curtain airbags to the base model Pajero GL five-door wagon and second-tier GLX model while increasing their prices by $850 and $900 respectively. The 2011 Model Year upgrade of the popular mid-size SUV range sees a realignment of models and prices, although there are no changes to the range-topping Exceed. Mitsubishi’s entry-level GL, powered by a 147kW/441Nm 3.2-litre turbo-diesel, is now priced from $50,460 with a five-speed manual (plus $3000 for the auto) while the GLX – now available only with the diesel – is priced from $55,190. Third in line of the five-model range remains the GLS in both diesel ($59,590) and 184kW/329Nm 3.8-litre V6 petrol ($60,590 auto-only), which is $900 more expensive for the addition of reverse parking sensors and a cargo blind. The VRX model gets the biggest re-specification (and the biggest price increase at $1500) with the addition of features that were previously available only in the flagship Exceed – a Rockford Acoustic Design 12 speaker premium audio package, high intensity discharge headlights with auto levelling, headlight washers, automatic wipers, automatic headlights and a cargo blind. Prices for the VRX increase to $66,990 for the petrol and $69,490 for the diesel – both fitted only with the five-speed auto – while the range-topping Exceed remains at $74,290 for the petrol and $76,790 for the diesel. As well as side and curtain airbags across the range, the Pajero also boasts standard safety features including electronic stability control, traction control, engine brake assist, ABS with EBD, electronic suspension control and Mitsubishi’s acclaimed four-wheel drive technology.
