Nissan Qashqai e-Power priced ahead of Q1 launch

Second hybridised Nissan SUV to arrive soon, Qashqai Ti grade priced from $51,590 +ORC

18 Oct 2023

NISSAN Australia has announced the arrival of its second hybridised SUV with the Qashqai e-Power expected in local showrooms from the first quarter of next year (2024).

Available only in high-grade Ti form, the Small SUV segment Nissan Qashqai e-Power will be priced from $51,590 plus on-road costs, making it the most expensive variant in the line-up and only $2600 cheaper than the Medium SUV segment X-Trail Ti e-Power (from $54,190 +ORC).

Pricing elsewhere in the Qashqai line-up remains unchanged, beginning at $33,890 +ORC.

Sharing a platform with the larger X-Trail, the Qashqai e-Power will be offered to buyers initially via an online reservation program, similar to that recently utilised by Nissan Australia is the sale of its Z Nismo. Orders open via the Nissan public website from November 2.

The Nissan Qashqai Ti e-Power is powered by the combination of a variable compression 116kW 1.5-litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine, power generator, inverter, battery and electric motor. Total system output is rated at 140kW and 330Nm.

By way of reference, that is 17kW less than that offered by the X-Trail e-Power.

Full specification details, including range, fuel economy and CO2 emissions are expected to be announced closer to the model’s Australian launch.

Like other electrified models, the Qashqai Ti e-Power makes use of Nissan’s one-pedal driving capabilities it says is “designed to take the strain out of urban driving”.

Other grade highlights includes a panoramic glass roof with electric sunshade, quilted leather-accented upholstery, a graphite-coloured rear bumper finisher, front LED ambient lighting (console and doors), black headlining, a 10.8-inch head-up display, 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and 12.3-inch infotainment array, 10-speaker Bose premium audio system, hands-free powered tailgate, eight-way powered driver and front passenger seats with massage function, driver’s seat memory function, and Intelligent Park Assist.

“We know Australians love the driving dynamics of the X-Trail e-Power and we are thrilled to offer this innovative technology on a second mode, expanding its potential further,” said Nissan Australia managing director, Adam Paterson.

“Whether you’re in the city, further afield, or travel frequently between both, the Nissan Qashqai e-Power provides a smooth, exciting drive without ever having to stop to recharge.”

Nissan’s Qashqai remains one of the better sellers in its segment (Small SUV under $45K) with sales results to the end of September placing it just outside the top 10 with 5076 unit sales.

The Small SUV under $45 segment is dominated by the MG ZS (23,152 unit sales YTD), followed by the Mazda CX-30 (9581), GWM Haval Jolion (8327), Kia Seltos (8240), Hyundai Kona (7478), Mitsubishi ASX (6862), Volkswagen T-Roc (6318), Subaru Crosstrek (6148), Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross (5988) and Toyota Corolla Cross (5628).
