Kangan TAFE open night for apprentices

Automotive Centre of Excellence to host free open night for prospective auto apprentices

18 Sep 2024

KANGAN Institute’s Automotive Centre of Excellence Docklands Campus is hosting a free open night for mechanically minded apprentices on Monday 23 September from 4-6pm.

Speaking with GoAuto this week, organisers said the evening is open to anyone interested in mechanical-based courses and training, allowing an array of courses in auto body repair, paint and manufacturing; motorsport; marine, motorcycles and outdoor power equipment; car and heavy vehicle mechanics; mobile plant mechanics; automotive electrical and more.

The evening will also offer attendees the opportunity to tour the Kangan Automotive Centre of Excellence Docklands facility, meet industry representatives, and to learn more about available apprenticeships and traineeships – including those in the electric vehicle field.

Conveniently located on the fringe of the CBD, the Docklands facility is easily accessible from Southern Cross station, making it ideal for those travelling from further afield.

With a current skills shortage in the Australian automotive sector, the opportunities for apprentices in the field have never been greater.

The fast-paced industry is going through significant change and modernisation, expanding to offer roles in careers that can provide opportunity far beyond those of the traditional motor mechanic.

“Our Open Night offers an exciting chance to explore our world-class Automotive Centre of Excellence in Docklands and discover our range of automotive courses, including apprenticeships and traineeships,” said Kangan Institute acting chief executive officer Janelle Arena.

“The automotive industry is undergoing a thrilling transformation, driven by cutting-edge technologies like electric vehicles. Now is the perfect time to join Kangan Institute so you can be equipped with the skills and knowledge to thrive in this dynamic era.”
