Honda CivicMk4 Civic1 Nov 1987 Now entrenched as a premium small car, the Civic Mk4 represented an evolutionary design step, available in a now larger, longer, and smoother three-door hatchback, four-door sedan and five-door part-time 4WD Shuttle wagon. More advanced was the model-wide 72kW 1.5L single-cam 16-valve unit and multi-link rear suspension. Transmissions choices were four-speed auto and five-speed manual. There was also a spartan DX model but the majority sold were the GL, featuring power steering, central locking and power windows. In early ’89 the wagon and DX disappeared, followed by a small facelift. This generation Civic also saw the local arrival of the classic 94kW CR-X 2-seater three-door Coupe. |
