PeugeotA94 Series II 20081 Feb 2017 AFTER the dismal sales of the original, Peugeot listened and learned when it came to the 2008 facelift. Launched in early 2017, it ushered in a bolder nose, more SUV-esque attitude, and – most importantly – a far more powerful yet efficient powertrain choice. Usurping three unsuitable engines in one fell swoop (the weedy 1.2-litre atmo triple manual-only, ageing 1.6-litre atmo four-pot/four-speed auto combo, and 1.6-litre HDi turbo-diesel manual), was a gutsy 1.2-litre turbo triple, driving the front wheels via a six-speed auto transmission. A Euro6-emissions rated 1190cc, it delivered 81kW of power at 5500rpm and 205Nm of torque at 1500rpm. 0-100km/h took 11.3 seconds, top speed was 182km/h, and the average consumption was rated at 4.8L/100km. Otherwise, save for improved spec like a standard reverse camera and AEB availability, the 2008 remained the same as before.
