A driver's airbag is standard, while all five passengers get lap-sash safety belts - the fronts are height adjustable and have pretensioning and load-limiters - and headrests. The driver's airbag inflates to different levels depending on the severity of the impact, but there's no passenger or side airbags and you can't even option ABS anti-lock braking. The Optima's bumpers can abosrb 8km/h impacts.
