Super TestCar reviews - Toyota - LandCruiser Prado - RV6 5-dr wagonToyota modelsUsed Rivals16 Jul 2004 LAND ROVER DISCOVERY 4D WAGON (1999-2004) THOUGH unassailable off-road, the Discovery is an old-school 4X4 on the tarmac, meaning ponderous handling, alarming fuel consumption and disappointing performance. Tall cabin, stylish, roomy interior, excellent ride and unrivalled class are high points. Questionable reliability issues persist. NISSAN PATHFINDER (1999-2004) DESPITE its 1995 vintage, the Series II Pathfinder MK2 hits the right chord with a roomy and comfy cabin, gutsy and refined V6, ease of operation and impressive on and off-road dynamics. Good looks and Nissan’s reliability reputation top it off. Fuel consumption can be heavy however. MITSUBISHI CHALLENGER 4D WAGON (1998-2004) TALL, narrow and tight inside, the Challenger is an ancient cross between early 1990s Pajero and Triton utility. Impressively sturdy and capable offroad, it is in the areas of on-road performance, comfort, space, refinement and fuel economy that its case pales. HOLDEN JACKAROO 4D WAGON (1992-2004) UNDER-RATED car-like city-slicking 4WD that copes well in the rough despite a slight lack of ground clearance. Plenty of power from the V6 once wound up although fuel consumption is average. Roomy interior, nice dash, plenty of features and lots of luggage space.
