Road TestCar reviews - Toyota - LandCruiser Prado - GXL 5-dr wagonToyota modelsOverviewToyota's Prado was its mid-sized SUV response to the popular Mitsubishi Pajero11 Apr 2001 By TIM BRITTEN TOYOTA got the formula right when it replaced the 4 Runner with the LandCruiser Prado in 1996. The commodious 4WD tackles the urban jungle as effectively as the real jungle and is far more refined than its predecessor. Available as a five-seater or eight-seater, it has a large enough cabin but does not have the bulky intimidation factor of the bigger LandCruiser. Constant four-wheel drive and a choice of a torquey 2.7-litre four-cylinder or a smooth 3.4-litre V6 engine complete an appealing package.
