Literally, none. Its sales figures are beyond astounding it’s held the lead its category for the last 123 months out of 125, with only the Japanese tsunami putting a dent in its progress. With such success can come complacency, and the 150 Series drivetrains were, in truth, a bit old hat. The 1KD-FTV diesel, for example, has done the business under the bonnet for the last fifteen years. Toyota isn't silly – with the Prado continuing to notch good numbers, and with the all-new HiLux and Fortuner sibling on the horizon, the company took its time to build a suitable replacement.
