Car reviews - Toyota - LandCruiser Prado - range
One of Australia’s most popular SUV ever, the Toyota Prado gets a heart transplant
31 Aug 2015
WHEN it comes to large, capable seven-seat family SUVs, none are more popular than Toyota’s LandCruiser Prado.
Literally, none. Its sales figures are beyond astounding it’s held the lead its category for the last 123 months out of 125, with only the Japanese tsunami putting a dent in its progress.
With such success can come complacency, and the 150 Series drivetrains were, in truth, a bit old hat.
The 1KD-FTV diesel, for example, has done the business under the bonnet for the last fifteen years.
Toyota isn't silly – with the Prado continuing to notch good numbers, and with the all-new HiLux and Fortuner sibling on the horizon, the company took its time to build a suitable replacement. And, if early impressions are anything to go by, it’s been worth the wait.
