The sixth generation of Fiat's largest light-commercial vehicle landed in Australia in November 2014, bringing more power, better fuel economy and a new shorter wheelbase entry level variant to the Ducato range.
A raft of new 'car-like' features and technology also accompanied the new version with more comfortable interiors, Bluetooth connectivity, a 5.0-inch touchscreen and reversing camera available range-wide.
Power across the range was given a boost with a new larger four-cylinder MultiJet diesel engine growing from 2.4-litres of the previous generation to 3.0-litres, but despite the increase in capacity, fuel consumption was as little as 7.2 litres per 100km.
Australian versions of the 3.0-litre diesel engine lost 4kW over European equivalents at 130kW but shared the same 400Nm of torque, and unlike the previous generation, all variants got the same engine output.
Power was sent to the front wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox, but an optional six-speed Comfort-Matic automatic transmission was also available for all variants.
