Aston Martin Vantage facelifted for 2024

ASTON MARTIN has unveiled its significantly revised Vantage this week ahead of the model’s showroom arrival in mid-2024.

Local timing for the Coupe is yet to be revealed – as is the arrival of the Roadster counterpart. Instead, Aston Martin has detailed the myriad changes made to its six-year-old Vantage, which include a freshened look inside and out, and a massive uptick in power and torque.

Under the bonnet, the 2024 Aston Martin Vantage continues to feature a Mercedes-AMG sourced 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 petrol unit with outputs now registering 489kW and 800Nm – gains of 114kW (+30 per cent) and 115Nm (+15 per cent) respectively over the preceding model.

Aston Martin says the increases come from reprofiled camshafts, an altered compression ratio, larger turbochargers and an improved cooling system culminating in a faster 0-100km/h time of just 3.4 seconds. Top speed is listed at 325km/h.

As before, the engine is paired with a ZF-sourced eight-speed automatic transmission driving the rear wheels. The update now includes launch control and a shortened final drive ratio (3.08:1), as well as an upgraded oil cooler.

Those changes join a stiffer, wider (+30mm) bonded aluminium body and repositioned frontal cross brace Aston Martin says improves the model’s steering response, and newly added rear axle tower bracing and thickened undertray.

Damping response from the adaptive Bilstein-sourced shocks has come in for an upgrade joining a retuned EPAS arrangement, electronically actuated limited-slip differential, and faster-acting eight-mode stability control technology.

Braking duties now come from cast-iron 400mm front / 360mm rear discs and an upgraded brake booster with lighter (-27kg) carbon-ceramic stoppers offered optionally.

In terms of equipment the new-look Vantage now scores 21-inch forged alloy wheels (available in three designs) shod with bespoke Michelin Pilot Sport S 5 rubber, matrix LED headlights, a restyled front splitter and intakes, wider wheel arches, new-look wheel arch vents, frameless wing mirrors, a remoulded rear bumper, and larger exhaust exits.

An AML infotainment array replaces the Mercedes-Benz sourced predecessor inside, the 10.25-inch touchscreen array featuring wireless Apple CarPlay, native sat nav and smartphone connectivity via the Aston Martin app. Sound comes via an 11-speaker/390-watt standard system or optional 15-speaker/1170-watt Bowers & Wilkins alternative.

A second display shows instrumentation data as is available with internet connectivity while hard “override” buttons remain for the transmission selector, drive, exhaust and stability control settings, parking assistants and active lane keeping.

“Together with assertive styling, all-new interior, and state-of-the-art infotainment, the Vantage is now world-class in every respect.”

Australian timing, specification and pricing is expected to be announced prior to the model’s local arrival.
