Melbourne show: Ferrari prices Scuderia

Fast Fazza: Most powerful 430 almost matches Enzo.

Ferrari's lightweight 430 Scuderia to land at up to $30K less than expected

3 Mar 2008

THOSE who ordered a 430 Scuderia received a nice surprise on Friday when Ferrari announced its price and the car made its Australian debut at the Melbourne International Motor Show.

Ferrari importer Ateco was expecting the new supercar would cost close to $580,000, but the final number it was able to announce was $550,000.

Nearly 80 orders have been placed for the special 430, which is almost as fast as the legendary Ferrari Enzo.

The 430 Scuderia runs a tweaked version of the 4.3-litre V8 with 375kW and 470Nm. It can blast from 0-100km/h in just 3.6 seconds and hit a top speed of 320km/h.

Ferrari has also fitted the 430 with a sophisticated aerodynamics package, a F1-SuperFast2 gearbox, E-Diff and sophisticated F1-Trac traction control system.

The use of lightweight components made from materials such as carbon-fibre and composites has enabled Ferrari to reduce the Scuderia’s weight by 100kg over the standard F430 to 1350kg.

Australian deliveries of the 430 Scuderia are expected to begin around June this year.
