The images on US news publication TIME reveal a sleek new design incorporating elements of Ford’s current design language, with slim-line headlights and a gaping Aston Martin-esque grille, while maintaining themes of previous models. The new Pony car has been designed with global markets in mind, as Ford rolls its iconic coupe out as a new hero car for the brand around the world. Ford will launch the Mustang in Europe next year and the Blue Oval’s Australian arm has confirmed it will add it to its line-up sometime in 2015, prior to ceasing local production of the long-running Falcon in 2016. The Mustang will sit at the top of Ford’s Australian line-up, replacing its FPV-branded models that will end production next year. Powertrains are yet to be confirmed but it is being reported that there will be the option of a four-cylinder turbo-charged petrol engine to better appeal to European buyers. GoAuto will have more details of the 2014 Mustang after the simultaneous global reveal in six cities around the world – including Sydney – from 11pm tonight.
