Future models - Land Rover - Range Rover EvoqueMelbourne show: Land Rover goes littleStunning LRX off-roader wows Melbourne as Land Rover's second concept ever3 Mar 2008 THE stunning LRX concept made its Australian debut at the Melbourne International Motor on Friday, less than two months after it was first shown in Detroit. At this stage, the sleek LRX is a concept only, but Land Rover does not produce concepts willy-nilly. In fact, it has only ever made two concept cars, the first being the Range Stormer presented in Detroit in 2004 – which became the Range Rover Sport production vehicle. The LRX is slightly smaller than the Freelander and suggests Land Rover is considering a smaller two-door version of its entry-level model designed more for road use than off-road work. The show car runs a hybrid diesel-electric drivetrain, featuring a 2.0-litre turbo-diesel. Land Rover said the powertrain could use around 30 per cent less fuel than other 4WDs of comparable size.
