The MY06 facelift from March 2006 brought more power (77kW) and torque (141Nm) thanks to the implementation of Mitsubishi’s efficiency enhancing MIVEC variable valve timing.
At the same time a minor facelift and trim changes accompanied the new engine.
In July 2006 a five-speed manual gearbox was introduced, as well as the sporty Ralliart version.
More than just a bolt-on body kit and turbo, the Ralliart benefits from a stiffened body structure and suspension, a Getrag five-speed manual gearbox, and a host of brake and steering modifications.
Power and torque outputs are 113kW at 6000rpm and 210Nm at 3500rpm respectively.
Tuned to 110kW and 210Nm, this engine, along with a variation of the non-turbo Colt’s 1.5-litre unit (delivering 80kW and 145Nm), also powers the two-pronged Coupe Convertible models, released in late 2006.
Designed by Pininfarina, built in Europe and aimed at the Holden Tigra and Peugeot 206 CC, the 2+2 seater Colt CC has a retractable hardtop, as well as a bespoke interior.
