Suddenly the Sigma became a byword for daggy, as the GK model seemed much older than its two years suggested (this generation was actually released in Japan in late 1979), and buyers fell away quickly.
The facelift was mainly cosmetic inside and out, centred on minor trim and equipment updates.
The 1.6 XL now offered only 60kW and 118Nm in four-speed manual only mode, the 2.0 XL, GL and SE remained the same with 70kW and 152Nm, as did the 76kW/192Nm 2.6 GL, SE, GSR and Super Saloon.
