New models - Cupra - Leon - VZXCupra locks in Leon VZx Sportstourer AWDThe most powerful Leon wagon yet offered in Australia available to order from $67,64025 Jun 2026 By MATT BROGAN CUPRA Australia has confirmed pricing and specification details for its new Leon VZx Sportstourer AWD, the most powerful Leon wagon yet offered locally.
Priced from $67,490 plus on-road costs, or $72,490 driveaway nationally, the Leon VZx Sportstourer is available to order from late June ahead of first Australian deliveries from September.
The new flagship joins the refreshed Leon range introduced late last year, sitting alongside the Leon VZe Sportstourer plug-in hybrid while bringing all-wheel drive to the Leon line-up for the first time in Australia.
Powered by the same turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine as the latest Formentor VZx, the Leon VZx Sportstourer produces 245kW – 24kW more than the Leon VZx hatch – and drives through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
Cupra says the model will accelerate from 0-100km/h in 4.8 seconds, with rear torque-splitting technology allowing drive to be actively distributed between the rear wheels. A dedicated Drift mode is also included.
Cupra Australia head of product Jeff Shafer said the model was aimed at buyers wanting performance without sacrificing everyday practicality.
“Performance wagons have always inspired passionate enthusiasts because they offer something genuinely unique – the practicality and versatility people need, combined with the driving experience they truly want,” he said.
“With 245kW, all-wheel drive and advanced torque vectoring technology, it delivers serious performance without asking drivers to compromise on everyday usability.”
Standard equipment includes 19-inch Hailstorm forged alloy wheels, cross-drilled performance brakes, leather-appointed upholstery, heated front seats with memory, Dynamic Chassis Control, a power tailgate, and a Sennheiser premium audio bundle.
The Extreme Package is available from launch, priced at $7600, adding Cup Bucket front seats trimmed in Enceladus Grey Seaqual and Dinamica upholstery with carbon-fibre shells, Matrix Ultra LED headlights, dark gloss exterior highlights, and Akebono six-piston front brakes.
Other options include a panoramic sunroof ($2000), premium paint ($630), and matte paint ($2650).
The wider Leon range now starts from $46,990 + ORC for the Leon S hatch, rising to $62,990 + ORC for the Leon V e hatch, $64,990 + ORC for the Leon VZx hatch and $69,990 + ORC for the Leon VZe Sportstourer plug-in hybrid.
The Leon VZx Sportstourer is backed by Cupra Australia’s five-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty and five years of roadside assistance.
Locally, sales of the Cupra Leon have struggled against more familiar nameplates with just 67 units sold in the year to date (ending May). The number represents a rollback of 38.5 per cent on the same time last year.
The Small passenger over $45K segment is led by the MG 4 with 2218 unit sales, followed by the Mercedes-Benz A-Class with 995 units, Volkswagen Golf with 981 units, Audi A3 with 875 units, and Subaru WRX with 623 units.
