New models - Cupra - TavascanCheaper Tavascan broadens Cupra EV rangeNew entry-grade V lowers point of entry to Cupra’s electric SUV line-up, priced from $55,49030 Jun 2026 By MATT BROGAN CUPRA Australia will expand its Tavascan electric SUV range from late August with the introduction of a new entry-grade V variant, priced from $55,490 plus on-road costs.
The MY26 update brings a broader three-variant line-up, additional standard equipment, and a series of technology revisions aimed at improving everyday usability.
Joining the existing Endurance and VZ grades, the new Tavascan V is powered by a 140kW rear-mounted electric motor and uses a 58kWh lithium-iron phosphate battery, delivering a claimed WLTP driving range of around 414km.
Despite becoming the most affordable Tavascan variant, Cupra says the V will closely mirror the current Endurance fitted with the Interior Package, bringing heated and memory front seats, Sennheiser premium audio, Dark Night Dinamica seat trim, a 360-degree camera, and 20-inch Heckla alloy wheels as standard.
DC fast charging is rated at up to 105kW, enabling a 10-80 per cent charge in around 26 minutes.
The Tavascan Endurance continues as the range’s core model, priced from $66,490 + ORC.
It retains a 210kW rear-mounted electric motor and 77kWh battery, with WLTP range now listed at approximately 520km.
For MY26, the previously optional Interior Package becomes standard on the Endurance, while launch control is also added.
The flagship Tavascan VZ remains priced from $75,490 + ORC and continues with a dual-motor all-wheel drive layout producing 250kW. Claimed WLTP range is approximately 509km.
Like the Endurance, the VZ now gains launch control as standard.
Cupra Australia head of product Jeff Shafer said the changes were designed to broaden the model’s appeal while improving the customer experience across the range.
“(The) Tavascan has already demonstrated that an electric SUV can be every bit as emotional and engaging as it is practical,” he said.
“For MY26 we’ve expanded the range with a new entry point while making meaningful improvements to the ownership experience across every variant.”
Across the MY26 line-up, Cupra has replaced the previous 5.3-inch driver display with a larger 10.25-inch Digital Cockpit.
The multifunction steering wheel also switches from haptic controls to physical buttons, a change the brand says was made in response to customer feedback.
Other updates include a redesigned wireless phone charging housing, electrically operated air vents, speed sign recognition, and software refinements for the infotainment and audio systems.
New colour choices include Midnight Black Metallic, offered at no additional cost, while Dark Void is now available across the range. Premium paint hues attract an $800 surcharge while optional matte paint is a $3150 option.
The Tavascan is underpinned by Volkswagen Group’s MEB electric vehicle architecture and is designed and developed in Barcelona.
All variants are backed by Cupra Australia’s five-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty and five years of roadside assistance.
The high-voltage battery is covered for eight years or 160,000km.
Ordering for the updated range will open ahead of first customer deliveries from late August.
While sales of the Tavascan have improved over this time last year, it is noted that Cupra has sold just 257 examples of the Medium SUV over $65K competitor to the end of May (for a 1.1 per cent share of the segment overall).
That figure places the Tavascan well behind segment leaders like the Zeekr 7X (with 3664 unit sales YTD) and Kia EV5 (2379 units).
