New models - Holden - Commodore uteHolden Storms in with another offerHolden’s latest limited Ute offers a claimed $2500 worth of extra features11 May 2004 By BRUCE NEWTON HOLDEN has continued its flood of limited edition launches with the announcement of the VY II version of the Storm Ute, which goes on sale May 14. Based on the 3.8-litre S Ute, Holden claims Storm adds an extra $2500 worth of features, with the asking price rising a little under $1000 for either five-speed manual or four-speed auto to $33,220 and $33,990 respectively. The Storm’s added exterior features include 17-inch alloy wheels, FE2 sports suspension, SS utility sports bodykit, body colour mirrors and a unique soft tonneau cover. Inside there are sports seats with leather bolsters and a six-disc in-dash CD player. This is the third iteration of the Storm Ute that Holden has released. The first was a VUII on sale between May and September 2002, the second a VY on sale between May and July 2003. Already this year Holden has announced the VY II Commodore Equipe, Monaro CV8-R and VY II SS wagon limited editions. Compared to 2004, Commodore sedan/wagon and Monaro sales are well down on 2003. But the Ute is a shining light, up from 4259 sales to 6512 year-on-year. The Commodore range will be dramatically updated from August when the HF V6 replaces the Ecotec as the standard engine in the range.
