Updated Hyundai i30 N detailed

Styling, technology and safety updates for revised Hyundai i30 N Hatch

5 Aug 2024

HYUNDAI has announced updates to its hard-charging i30 N Hatch range this week, the high performing five-door receiving a refreshed design and updated technology and safety equipment.

Pricing now starts from $50,000 plus on-road costs, an increase of $3800 over the outgoing i30 N manual. Automatic variants are $800 dearer while N Premium variants jump up by $4300 (see full pricing information below).

Available with a choice of six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic transmission (NCO), the MY25 Hyundai i30 N Hatch remains one of the best value performance cars on the market, significantly undercutting the likes of the Cupra Leon VZx ($65,690 d/a), Honda Civic Type R ($74,100 + ORC), and Volkswagen Golf GTI ($56,090 + ORC).

Only the Subaru WRX is cheaper at $47,490 + ORC.

For 2025 we find the i30 N sporting matte black two-dimensional badging, matte grey 19-inch alloy wheels, a new-look grille with red air intakes, and red sill skirt accents. A panoramic sunroof is available optionally on the Premium variant for $2000.

Paint options include Atlas White, Engine Red, Performance Blue, and Shadow Grey solid hues, and Abyss Black, Ecotronic Grey, and Ultimate Red premium tones (a $695 option).

Interior updates include a larger 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, additional USB-C charging ports, Bluelink connected car services, gloss black garnishing, standard electrochromatic rear-view mirror, redesigned upholstery options in Black Cloth or Black Alcantara and Leather combination (Premium only), and an updated steering wheel design.

On the safety front we find newly adopted speed limit warning assistance and rear occupant alert. These features join adaptive cruise control, AEB, blind spot monitoring, driver attention warning, high beam assist, lane following and lane keep assist, rear cross-traffic alert, safe exit warning, tyre pressure monitoring, and more.

Power continues to arrive courtesy of a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine developing 206kW of power at 6000rpm and 392Nm of torque between 2100 and 4700rpm. Drive is to the front wheels via a six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic transmission, both at the same price point.

Standard equipment highlights for the i30 N include 19-inch alloys, a 10.25-inch infotainment array with included Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, DAB+ digital radio and satellite navigation, cloth upholstery, dual-zone climate control, keyless entry and ignition, LED lighting inside and out, rear privacy glass, and rain-sensing wipers.

The Premium variant adds sport seats in Alcantara and leather combination upholstery and with front seat heating, and a heated steering wheel.

“These key updates are about improving the Hyundai i30 N formula, without changing the fundamentals,” said Hyundai Motor Company Australia chief executive officer Ted Lee.

“While the i30 N has always been about maximising performance and fun, these improvements focus on delivering key safety and technology updates, adding to the well-rounded nature of this accessible and exciting performance vehicle.”
