New Maserati GTs arriving at dealerships

Price rises of up to $120K accompany new Maserati GranTurismo’s arrival Down Under

2 Aug 2024

IN KEEPING with its trident logo, three versions of the new Maserati GranTurismo (GT) coupe will be available, with two petrol-powered variants in dealerships across Australia and New Zealand now to be followed early next year with a a fully electric Folgore version.

Listed from $375,000 excluding on road costs for the sleek two-door tin-top Modena with the high performance Trofeo attracting a $75K premium, the pricing represents an increase of up to $105,000 over the long-lived outgoing range.

Maserati Australia and New Zealand says the new model marks the commencement of a new era that traces its roots back 77 years to the Maserati A6 1500 by “Integrating the high-performance features typical of a sportscar with the long-distance comfort of a grand tourer.”

The GT’s familiar coke bottle silhouette and overall muscular appearance was conceived at the Maserati Innovation Lab, the car itself manufactured at the Mirafiori production centre in Turin.

Maserati described its styling as “an artful balance of elegance and practicality, its distinctive, easily identifiable lines accentuating a sleek profile”.

The new GT utilises Maser’s 3.0-litre Nettuno twin-turbo petrol V6, available in 365kW/600Nm tune for the Modena and a maximum power output of 410kW/650Nm for the performance-oriented Trofeo.

An eight-speed automatic transmission is standard, putting power to the rear wheels.

Four driver-selectable modes consist of Comfort, Corsa, GT and Sport, alongside an ESC Off setting for track driving.

Adaptive air suspension is standard along with 380mm six-piston and 350mm four-piston disc brakes, 20-inch front and 21-inch rear alloy wheels and a self-locking rear differential.

Inside, the petrol models features we find the brand’s latest MIA (Maserati Intelligent Assistant) multimedia array combining infotainment, comfort and other settings within a single touchscreen interface.

The central 12.3-inch touchscreen also has wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, controls for the vehicle’s head-up display and outputs through a 16-speaker, 815W Sonus Faber audio system.

Climate control is governed by a separate 8.8-inch display while instrumentation arrives courtesy of a 12.2-inch full-colour cluster.

Hard buttons remain for key accessories and functions, including the gear selector.

Safety technology includes adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, lane centring assist and a 360-degree surround view camera system.

Green-tinged Maserati enthusiasts will from Q1 next year be able to purchase the GT Folgore, a 100 per cent battery electric model employing an 800V architecture developed using cutting-edge technology from Formula E to deliver searing performance through three potent 300kW permanent magnet motors.

On display at select local dealerships in conjunction with the two new ICE-powered GTs is the Maserati GranTurismo PrimaSerie 75th anniversary edition.

Based on the Trofeo variant, the PrimaSerie was developed to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the GT and is defined by its striking Grigio Lamiera Matte or Nero Cometa colours with red and green logos and detailing respectively. Just nine of these unique models will make their way to Australia and New Zealand.

“With the arrival of the GranTurismo, new GranCabrio due in local showrooms this September and upcoming deliveries of the exclusive MCXtrema, these are undoubtedly exciting times for Maserati,” said Maserati Australia and New Zealand general manager Grant Barling.

“July saw 46 customer deliveries across the network – an increase of 15 per cent over June – and one of our strongest July order banks to kick off the new financial year.

“As the recent statement from the Stellantis Group indicated, there is an unwavering commitment to Maserati's mission to write the future of performance and luxury, and it’s a commitment wholeheartedly matched by Maserati Australia and New Zealand.
