Driveaway EOFY push for Renault vans

Taxing times: Renault’s light commercial vehicle sales are flying high this year and the French brand aims to keep that momentum going with some sharp end-of-financial-year deals.

Renault Kangoo, Trafic and Master vans get driveaway pricing as EOFY nears

7 Apr 2016

RIDING the wave of an 82 per cent year-to-date light-commercial sales surge, Renault has announced driveaway pricing on its Kangoo, Trafic and Master vans to keep dealerships awash with customers as the end of this financial year appears on the horizon.

Starting at the smaller end of the range, a short-wheelbase manual Kangoo can now be had from $22,990 drive-away, while the automatic petrol is an extra $2000. For comparison, standard pricing is $21,990 plus on-roads for the manual and $24,490 for the automatic.

The larger Kangoo Maxi diesel manual starts from $26,990 driveaway and the five-seater Maxi Crew, with fold-flat second-row seating and five-year, 200,000 kilometre warranty, begins at $29,990 driveaway. Usual pricing is $26,990 and $29,490 respectively, plus on-roads.

Stepping up into the Trafic mid-size van in 5.2 cubic metre, 1.2-tonne payload format comes in at $34,990 driveaway for the single-turbo engine variant, with the punchier twin-turbo $3000 more expensive and the long-wheelbase twin-turbo from $39,990 driveaway.

Prior to the EOFY offer, these Trafic variants come in at $34,490, $37,990 and $39,490 plus on-roads.

Those with a big load to carry are enticed toward the Master L1H1 front-drive manual with 120kW 2.3-litre twin-turbo diesel engine, and 8.3 cubic metre capacity from $42,490 driveaway – a significant discount considering the usual price is $43,990 plus on-roads.

Kangoo sales to the end of March were up 5.4 per cent on 196 units, with the Trafic up 177.8 per cent on 439 units and the Master up 69.7 per cent with 431 units. The 12-seat Master Bus launched at the beginning of this year has sold 25 units.

All three received additional standard safety equipment in February in exchange for a $1000 price hike on the Kangoo and Trafic, with a $2000 increase for the Master. A number of options bundles were also introduced.

Warranty coverage – apart from the longer deal on the Kangoo Maxi Crew – is three years and 200,000km, with the same duration of roadside assistance and capped-price servicing at $349 per visit (correct at the time of publication).

Maintenance intervals on the Kangoo are 12 months or 15,000km while the Trafic and Master can go 30,000km between annual services.

Renault LCV model line manager Lyndon Healey said the long warranty, service intervals and capped-price servicing plans “ensure that the business case for buying a Renault really stacks up”.

“And, when you compare our Renault LCVs with competitor models on a specification-for-specification basis, the extra value of our standard features really shines through,” he added.
