News - General News - Autonomous TechnologyTMC coming to MelbourneHeavy automation focus at ATA’s 2023 Technical Maintenance Conference in Melbourne21 Jul 2023 THE overarching theme at this October’s Technical Maintenance Conference (TMC) in Melbourne will be automation, covering the latest developments, trials, and the effect this technology will have on Australia’s road transport industry now and into the future.
Organised by the Australian Trucking Association (ATA), TMC is the premier national gathering of transport business owners, professionals, mechanics, technicians, fleet managers and technical fleet professionals.
The in-depth technical event aims to enhance industry knowledge and skills, as industry professionals share insights, network and collaborate under the one roof.
Across Australia, automation trials are taking place with Scania trialling trucks at a Rio Tinto mine in the Pilbara, and Transurban’s recent trial of an automated semi-trailer on urban motorways in Melbourne.
The event, taking place from October 16-18 at the Kangan Institute in Melbourne’s Docklands precinct, will aim to address how vehicle automation will affect the industry, with experts like Rahila David from the Centre for Connected and Automated Transport taking the stage on day one.
In Ms David’s session, she will discuss the latest technological developments in truck automation, where they are being trialled, and how vehicle automation will affect the way you and your team works.
The event features numerous Q&A sessions, workshops and multiple concurrent seminars covering a broad range of technical topics across safety, maintenance, technology, regulation and operations.
A signature Q&A this year will include National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) operations directors, who directly manage on-road enforcement, allowing transport operators and fleet managers to put forward concerns or questions about compliance.
The National Trucking Industry Awards are also held alongside the TMC, with coveted categories that acknowledge outstanding contributions to the industry.
As well as offering technical insights for those within the industry, the TMC also offers valuable information for up-and-coming transport workers with plenty of information on career paths.
Centred around learning and networking, this year’s TMC will have all the big names in one room with a focus on innovation and future-proofing the road transport industry.
Those who register before Friday 27 July can take advantage of an early bird discount of $100 off the cost of full pass registrations for this year’s TMC. Tickets and further information are available at https://new.truck.net.au/tmc/ Read more |
