Mr Lohscheller (53), who joined Nikola in February, will take over as president from Mr Russell (59) and join Nikola's board effective immediately, the company said.
His predecessor replaced Nikola founder Trevor Milton, who was accused of defrauding investors by lying about the company, as CEO, in 2020, which impacted on the share price.
