News - Jaguar - F-TypeJaguar F-Type production endsLast F-Type rolls off the line 50 years to the day after final Jaguar E-type14 Jun 2024 By MATT BROGAN THE final Jaguar F-Type has rolled off the production line at Castle Bromwich and will join the Jaguar Heritage collection, 50 years to the day after the final Jaguar E-type.
Interestingly, the final F-Type – a 5.0-litre V8 Convertible in Giola Green with a black roof and Tan Windsor leather interior – is almost an identical take on the final E-type, that car a 5.3-litre V12 Convertible.
Jaguar finished E-type production with a 50-strong run of black vehicles, all wearing a commemorative plaque bearing a facsimile of “Mr Jaguar” Sir William Lyons’ signature. One car (number 49) was finished in British Racing Green and was supplied to a well-known private collector.
The very last E-type (one of 72,528 built) was transferred from Jaguar Cars to the Jaguar Heritage collection in 1983.
The final F-Type will be handed to the custodians of the brand’s history and will take part in a series of special events and activities this year.
“The singular vision of Jaguar’s founder, Sir William Lyons, was to always be future-facing, relevant, and original,” said Jaguar managing director Rawdon Glover.
“This has been the foundation of Jaguar through almost a century of evolving contemporary British luxury.
“Today, as we celebrate the F-Type and our 75-year history of innovative Jaguar sports cars, we are also looking forward to the beginning of a new era.
“We will reimagine and elevate the Jaguar brand that will be focused on growing client intimacy and engagement, underpinned by our purpose to inspire like no other.”
The Jaguar F-Type was launched as a convertible in 2013 and was the brand’s first two-seat sports car in almost 40 years. The coupe made its debut a year later, the same year F-Type sales began in Australia.
In total, 87,731 F-Types have been produced. Jaguar says there is sufficient stock such that the model will be available until early 2025 – this includes the F-Type ZP Edition coupe of which 24 (of the run of 150) units will be available for sale in Australia.
Jaguar says the final F-Type has been produced as it readies an even bolder transformation, spearheaded by a four-door electric GT car that promises to be a “copy of nothing” when it is revealed in 2025.
