Peugeot’s 208 arrived in September 2012 to replace the aging 207 light hatch.
The 208 was the first vehicle on the Australian market to be available without a CD player in response to the fall in CD sales.
Available as a five-door hatch, except for the top-spec Allure which was three-door only, the 208 was powered by a tiny 60kW 1.2-litre three-cylinder engine with fuel economy of 4.5 litres per 100 kilometres in the base model with the option of an 88kW 1.6-litre engine with 5.8L/100km.
