It is priced from $62,900 compared with $75,900 for the range-topping X3 3.0d, which is powered by a 3.0-litre six-cylinder turbo-diesel. The new four-cylinder common-rail direct-injection engine – which is also offered in the 1 Series, 3 Series and 5 Series sedans – produces 125kW of power at 4000rpm and 340Nm of torque at between 1750 and 3000rpm (compared with 160kW and 480Nm for the six-cylinder variant). It drives through a standard six-speed automatic transmission with a sequential manual mode.
