HSV's V8-powered R8 Tourer is accessible pure Aussie muscle
16 Oct 2015
THE fate of Holden Special Vehicles (HSV) is still somewhat unclear, but if it is in its twilight months, then the company is sending its range of Australian-built Commodore-based cars out with a serious bang.
HSV fans pored over the monstrous supercharged GTS sedan after the VF launched in 2013 and then again when the Maloo ute equivalent surfaced last year, but to celebrate the last Aussie-produced HSVs ahead of Holden’s factory closure in 2017, four more variants have been given a boost – literally.
With the arrival of the Gen-F2 range, Maloo R8, ClubSport R8 sedan and Tourer and Senator Signature have all gained the sensational 6.2-litre supercharged LSA V8 engine and 400kW of pure muscle.
We loaded up the new ClubSport R8 Tourer LSA and tried to forget that it might be one of the last times we get to go for a blast into the Australian country in a true Aussie muscle car.
