Road TestCar reviews - Hyundai - Grandeur - sedanHyundai modelsOverviewHyundai's first venture into the luxury car segment was with the underdone Grandeur5 Apr 2001 By TERRY MARTIN HYUNDAI sees its big new Grandeur as a move upmarket although it remains faithful to the principle of offering, in a monetary sense, more for less. The car is surprisingly well put together, has a beautifully smooth engine and transmission, and offers genuine stretching room front and back. The main shortfall concerns suspension refinement. The car is cushy and smooth to a point, but gives up easily on large-amplitude bumps and is nothing special when it comes to tackling corners either. This may worry motoring writers more than potential customers although Hyundai has apparently addressed the issue and this will become obvious in future shipments.
