Super TestCar reviews - Jeep - CherokeeJeep modelsUsed Rivals18 Jun 2003 LAND ROVER DISCOVERY 2D WAGON (1991-1997) BASICALLY the same mechanically as its big brother the Range Rover with 3.5-litre V8 engine, five-speed manual gearbox and excellent coil spring suspension. Some quirks of design but a great off-road performer. Central locking, power mirrors/windows and radio/cassette standard. HOLDEN JACKAROO 2D WAGON (1992-1995) MADE by Isuzu, the Jackaroo has never quite made the grade in the market. Excellent 3.2-litre V6 engine, choice of four- speed auto or five-speed manual. Boring interior, poor steering and handling. MITSUBISHI PAJERO 4D WAGON (1993-1996) ALWAYS a benchmark, the Pajero has a 3.0-litre V6 engine, choice of four-speed auto or five-speed manual. Performance is sluggish but road manners are excellent and interior room generous. Cruise control, central locking, limited slip differential, power mirrors/windows and a radio/cassette standard. NISSAN PATHFINDER 4D WAGON (1992-2001) A NICE package, with 3.0-litre fuel-injected V6 engine and five- speed manual or four-speed speed auto. Less room than the others but outstanding ride comfort from coil spring suspension and excellent seats. Central locking, limited slip differential, power steering, power windows, radio/cassette standard.
