Super TestCar reviews - Mitsubishi - Verada - Ei sedanMitsubishi modelsUsed Rivals20 Jun 2003 TOYOTA CAMRY 4D SEDAN (1993-1995) THE Vienta was expensive when new but is now a strong rival with similar interior space to the Verada and an equipment list which includes a driver's airbag. The 3.0-litre, multi-valve V6 produces 139kW which puts performance on the same level as its Australian rivals. FORD EB-ED FAIRMONT 4D SEDAN (1991-1994) THE EB-ED Fairmont is the biggest overall of this group and was continuously improved in quality and equipment. The 3.9-litre engine has ample torque and power (139kW) but became more refined with the introduction of the 4.0-litre, 148kW version in the EBII. HOLDEN VP BERLINA 4D SEDAN (1991-1992) THE VP has quality and equipment upgrades, including optional independent rear suspension, which make it a much better car than its predecessor and excellent value for money. The 3.8-litre V6, with 127kW, does not match the Falcon but its lighter weight more then offsets the deficit. HONDA ACCORD 4D SEDAN (1989-1993) THE Accord can not compete with this group of rivals on interior space but on other counts it scores well. It is well equipped and the aluminium four-cylinder, 2.2-litre engine is smooth and economical with enough power (94kW) to stay with the competition. The double wishbone suspension has good ride and handling, providing the roads are smooth.
