Super TestCar reviews - Toyota - Paseo - coupeToyota modelsResearch Toyota Used Rivals23 Jul 2003 MITSUBISHI LANCER 2D COUPE (1996-2001) THE top-line MR not only looks the part with spoilers, side skirts and sporty seats, it plays the game with an eager 1.8- litre engine and fine chassis dynamics. There is room for four, a huge boot and great reliability and economy. HYUNDAI COUPE SX 2D COUPE (1996-1999) CRAZY muscular lines, a sporty dash, good handling and rorty 1.8- litre engine elevate the purpose-built, Lantra-based SX from hairdresser icon to proper sporty coupe. But the clunky gearshift, lack of features, cramped rear and heavy fuel use detract. FORD LASER 3D HATCHBACK (1994-1996) THE Lynx has a punchy yet smooth 1.8-litre engine, excellent handling, many standard features and a roomy cabin to complement its unique styling. There is the usual Laser economy and reliability. PEUGEOT 306 3D HATCHBACK (1994-1997) TIMELESS styling, first-class steering, handling and roadholding, many features, extremely comfortable seating for four, hatchback versatility and promise of a long life are great 306 strengths. The torquey 1.8-litre engine needs premium petrol.
