Ford released the mid-cycle update of the popular Fiesta in September 2013.

Besides gaining an Aston Martin-esque nose cone, subtly different tail-lights, and a raft of minor cabin updates designed to create a more upmarket ambience, there were a series of suspension changes to make the baby Ford quieter and more comfy over bad roads.

The old variant names CL, LX and Zetec gave way to Ambiente, Trend, and Sport, while the rip-snorting ST belatedly replaced the previous-generation XR4.

Ousted from the mainstream models was the 1.6-litre four-pot petrol for a less powerful but slightly more frugal 1.5-litre unit, while the 1.6-litre TDCi gave way to an award-winning 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol turbo Ford dubs EcoBoost.

Only the ST 1.6-litre turbo comes out of Germany – and is the sole three-door hatch variant – as Thailand supplies Australia with the five-door Fiestas.

Among the host of additional features in the WZ are SYNC media/audio/phone hands-free connectivity, while capped-price servicing is also part of the Fiesta package.
