Future models - Genesis - GV70 - ElectrifiedGenesis upgrades Electrified GV70 for 2025More kit, technology and styling tweaks for top-of-the-range Genesis Electrified GV704 Dec 2024 BARELY weeks after the appearance of revamped petrol-powered Genesis GV70 Medium SUV models comes news of a revised Electrified GV70.
Due here in the firth half of next year, Genesis is remaining schtum about pricing with the existing model going for a head clearing $125,858 plus on-road costs, a price point that failed to attract many buyers compared with the much sharper-priced GV70 petrol.
The upgraded petrol models went up by between $5600 and $16,000 but given Electrified GV70 sales are currently hovering around 20 units for the year, Genesis may choose to mark time on the new model’s price.
It competes against the likes of BMW’s iX3, the Audi Q6 e-tron, the Lexus RZ 450e and the much cheaper Tesla Model Y among others.
With the upgrade, that retains the existing dual electric motor powertrain rated at 360kW and 700Nm on overboost function, Genesis would be hoping for a sales spike which may be problematic given the arrival of other brands into the space including Cadillac’s larger Lyriq BEV and the new Porsche Macan BEV.
It’s the first revamp of the model and puts a focus on the battery size, OTA functionality and Genesis Connected Services.
Outwardly, it is differentiated by revised bumpers, spoiler and grille, multi-lens lights, redesigned 20-inch alloy wheels and body hardware (badge) details.
Making it easier to recharge is an electrically opening and closing recharge flap complete with a light to speed the process in the dark.
Other upgrades made to the petrol version of the GV70 have flowed through into the BEV.
These include interior mood lighting, 27-inch OLED integrated widescreen display, designated climate control screen, fingertip authorisation, an aroma diffuser, and UV steriliser.
Further, a new Ceres Blue paint colour is offered in gloss or matte.
Genesis says the MY25 model arrives “boasting elevated luxury and meticulous attention to detail” that “takes the brand’s design philosophy of Athletic Elegance to new heights”.
The changes happen barely three years since the model was launched in South Korea originally as the third EV in the Genesis line-up, following the introductions of the Electrified G80 and the GV60.
Genesis says it has redesigned the already opulent interior to fully embrace Genesis’ distinctive design principle of the “Beauty of White Space,” that seamlessly incorporates state-of-the-art technology to boost the luxury experience.
A newly applied EV-exclusive door garnish and mood lamp, together called “Milky Way Pattern Mood Lighting,” maximises the interior’s elegant ambience featuring real aluminium speaker covers and a premium Bang & Olufsen sound system.
