The Mitsubishi Pajero had a 2009 model-year refresh, with a more powerful and efficient turbo-diesel and new auto transmission. It also has better towing capacity, two new model variants - and a price rise across the range.
Replacing the NS series Pajero of 2006 (which was a major revision of the NM Pajero of 1999) the NT arrives with an upgraded 3.2-litre diesel engine. The 3.2-litre DI-D turbo-diesel is the key engine for Pajero, as it takes 70 percent of Pajero sales.
The new engine, called the 4M41 Common Rail DI-D, improves outputs, with 147kW of power at 3800 rpm and 441Nm of torque at 2000 rpm.
The 4M41 DI-D now has the option of an upgraded version of the five-speed automatic transmission - now supplied by Aisin, instead of the previous Jatco unit - with sports mode, lock up and intelligent shift control.
All models continue with the sophisticated full-time dual-range 4WD system called Super Select 4WD II.
The 3.8-litre petrol V6 MIVEC engine continues unchanged, with 184kW at 6000rpm (175kW at 6000rpm for the manual) and 329Nm at 2750rpm.
