New models - Haval - H6 - HybridGWM opens Haval H6GT PHEV order bookArriving in Q1 2025, the GWM Haval H6GT PHEV is priced from $55,990 drive-away8 Nov 2024 By MATT BROGAN GWM has officially opened the order books on its freshened H6GT Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV), marking the Chinese brand’s first-ever entry into the evolving PHEV market in Australia.
Priced from $55,990 drive-away, the Haval H6GT PHEV is expected in dealerships in Q1 of next year and promises what GWM says is a blend of performance, efficiency and cutting-edge technology that will set a new benchmark in the competitive Medium SUV segment.
The 2025 GWM Haval H6GT PHEV is powered by the combination of a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine and trio of electric motors (two at the front and one at the rear) providing total system output of 342kW and 762Nm, a 0-100km/h acceleration time of 4.9 seconds, and more than 1000km of driving range.
Further, the H6GT PHEV delivers a class-leading electric-only range of up to 180km via its large 35.4kWh battery pack. GWM claims the range to be more than double that of its nearest competitor.
“This class-leading technology and range will empower owners to enjoy an all-electric driving for a majority of their urban trips, while the hybrid system ensures peace of mind on those longer journeys,” said GWM Haval head of marketing and communications Steve Maciver.
“GWM has addressed one of the biggest customer concerns around ‘range anxiety’, providing a solution that will be best-in-class.
“This model is a significant milestone for GWM, showcasing our commitment to pioneering EV solutions that enhance the driving experience without compromise.”
The GWM Haval H6GT PHEV vehicle offers multiple charging options via AC 6.6kW or DC 48kW. Fast charging allows the battery to return to 80 per cent capacity in as little as 26 minutes (30-80 per cent).
Pre-orders are now open across Australia with interested customers invited to visit their local GWM dealership or to register their interest at GWM’s public website.
Locally, the GWM Haval H6 and H6GT compete in the critically important Medium SUV under $60K segment where they have achieved year-to-date sales of 7556 and 2862 units respectively.
The figures place the H6 in seventh place against segment rivals, including the ubiquitous Toyota RAV4 (48,073 unit sales YTD), Mitsubishi Outlander (23,150), Mazda CX-5 (19,510), Kia Sportage (16,201), Nissan X-Trail (13,903), and Subaru Forester (11,348).
The segment’s top 10 is rounded out by the BYD Atto 3 (5256), Honda CR-V (5035), and BYD Sealion 6 (4229).
