Mazda raises CX-8 pricing with MY23 update

Refreshed styling, upgraded tech and suspension tweaks for 2023 Mazda CX-8 large SUV

20 Feb 2023

MAZDA has increased pricing of its CX-8 large SUV range by between $1520 and $2520 for 2023 in return for upgraded tech, tweaked suspension and refreshed looks.

Entry to the CX-8 range jumps $1570, the petrol-powered Sport now retailing from $42,060 plus on-road costs while petrol-powered Touring grades also jump by $1570 to $48,960 + ORC and diesel-powered Touring AWD grades increase by $2520 to $56,910 + ORC.

Mazda has deleted the CX-8 Touring SP from the range. GT petrol and diesel grades increase $1670 to now start at $58,560 + ORC while the highly specified Asaki increases by $1520 to begin at $61,8190 + ORC.

The flagship CX-8 Asaki LE crosses the $70K barrier for the first time, up $1520 to $71,410 + ORC.

Revised CX-8 styling includes a block mesh grille and grille surround, remoulded front and rear bumpers, new headlight and taillight designs and a reprofiled tailgate plus new alloy wheel designs and an additional Rhodium White paint option.

Inside, the three-row model now adopts a 10.25-inch infotainment array across the range, along with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. A 7.0-inch digital instrument panel, USB-C ports for the front seats, and remote window control are also new.

For all-wheel drive variants, Mazda’s Mi-Drive drive mode selector is now standard allowing switchable Normal and Off-Road modes. Front-wheel drive petrol-powered models offer Sport mode exclusively.

Mazda has also updated the CX-8’s ride and handling with retempered coil springs and improved front dampers it says enhances the model’s manoeuvrability and ride comfort.

“The Australian consumer has embraced the Mazda CX-8. Its combination of elegance and practicality makes it a compelling package that is hard to ignore,” said Mazda Australia managing director Vinesh Bhindi.

“With this latest update, Mazda CX-8 has taken the game to another level, with both styling and technology that will ensure it’s a hit with Aussie buyers for years to come.”

Mazda sold 5923 examples of the CX-8 into the sub-$70K large SUV segment during 2022, placing it behind rivals such as the Toyota Kluger (12,562 units), Subaru Outback (9739 units) and in-house rival the CX-9 (6460 units).

The MY23 Mazda CX-8 is due in local showrooms next month (March).
